CHIRIKÉ (CUB, ITA, TUN, VEN, SLO)

Stage: Lent stage
Time: 30.06.2006 at 20.10

Performers:
Alessandra Franco (vocals)
Juan Vladilo (guitar, cuatro, vocals)
Samo Juznic (guitar)
Leo Curri (flute, percussions, vocals)
Giovanni Toffoloni (bass, vocals)
Jacques Centonze (bongo, cajon, percussions)

The band Chiriké is committed to promoting original and enthralling ethnic music styles still little known in Europe, e.g. music from the plains of Venezuela and Colombia (musica llanera) and the music of African origin from the coast of Perú (musica afro-peruana), but they also do some famous Cuban tunes as well as original compositions.
The sound of the band is enriched by Mediterranean, classical and jazz influences bringing a fresh flavour to the traditional folk style of the Latin-American repertoire. The sound is acoustic and characterized by the blending of a feminine lead vocal, chorus, flute, guitars, bass and percussions.
