EDO MAAJKA (CRO), D-FACT (D-FACT CANCELLED)
Stage: Vecer stage
Time: 07.07.2006 at 21.30
Edo Maajka was born in 1978 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is the true embodiment of the “good” spirit so intimately linked to the Bosnian nation and the place of his origin (Brcko). Should we ever come to know him, had the war not broken out in 1992 forcing him to flee to Zagreb, Croatia, where he finally found serenity, shall always remain a mystery.
Still he returns to BiH, where he studied engineering and criminology. While living in Tuzla he joined the hard core group Diskord, which later took on a new name, DEFENCE (Obramba). They have become one of the more successful groups in Tuzla in BiH.
Despite having a hardcore appearance, at least judging by his weight, his only true love remains hip hop/ rap. On radio »Kameleon« he performs the first Bosnian freestyle for the radio show FMJAM, now a popular meeting place for young unaffirmed artists. After two years he drops out if university due to financial difficulties and returns to Zagreb, where he records two songs (entitled Minimalni rizik and Mahir i Alma), with the help of Shot (Elemental) in Studio 25 at a low budged. Both songs are received extremely well. The second of the pair was the ultimate hit of 2001 on Radio Kameleon.
Edo’s talent is quickly recognized by a number of record companies, but our Edo finally decides for Menart, and releases his first studio album »Slusaj Mater«. Those familiar with the album cast no doubt on the fact that Edo was destined to become the number one of Croatian, Bosnian and the wider hip hop scene. Edo remains the member of »Defende« and »Disciplinska komisija«, he is married and lives and works in Zagreb.
