NEISHA, VLADO KRESLIN, KATRINAS

Stage: Stage at the Drava river
Time: 04.07.2006 at 21.30

Neisha was born in 1982 as a 4th child into a big 8 member family, which was very musically oriented and was a very kind and stimulative environment to raise and develop her music talent. She began with piano lessons at the age of 5, finished primary music school, graduated at the Music grammar school (2 departments: piano and theory-composing) in Ljubljana
At this moment, she is near the completion of her academic studies at the Academy for music in Ljubljana (also 2 departments: composing and piano).
She has received many awards in piano and solfeggio competitions, special awards as a cultural worker and specially for being the first female composer in history of Middle Music School Ljubljana officially representing her own compositions at such an early age.
During all these years she kept her individualism in her approach to composing as shown in her works for many various contexts as well as using many different music styles and techniques. On one side she writes for big bands and symphonic orchestras and chamber music as a skilled composer and arranger, but on the other side she's very active as a studio musician, pianist, vocalist, keyboard player-programmer and co-producer. Working like that for quite many years now, she found out that the best way to express herself is through doing her own music, being author and performer, singing and playing piano in a pop-soul-light jazzy manner which still contains many progressive elements and gives her a lot of space to create her own sound and put out her message.
As she was offered a contract at the Nika records label, things moved on really fast and she released her debut album-Neisha in Autumn 2005.
Album was and still is, a huge success in the Slovenian market. It was rated with highest marks by all major music critics and magazines. Work on new English material is currently in process.

For nearly two decades VLADO KRESLIN has been in the centre of the the Slovenian popular music scene, and over the past few years has surely reached the height of his creativity and popularity. He began as a singer in rock groups (Martin Krpan), gradually breaking through to the foreground also as the author of numerous unforgettable songs. At the same time, he was beginning to go back more and more to his own roots and draw upon the creative energy of the musical heritage of Prekmurje, the Slovene region which is his homeland. Through his appearances with Beltinška banda - a group of Prekmurje folk singers and musicians in their seventies and eighties /the oldest member, the double bass player Joužek was born in 1905/ Kreslin enriched his repertoire with folk-songs of the region. In the meantime Vlado Kreslin has brought together a number of younger musicians into the group Mali bogovi (Little gods), and with them plays his compositions in more mainstream rock arrangements with the touch of the flatlands of Prekmurje. Often members of Mali bogovi join Beltinška banda on stage, and in this way music continues to bridge generations, both for those on stage and those in the audience. With his melange of so-called "world music" and his own songs, Kreslin won over several generations of Slovenes.

In the past years, KATRINAS have established themselves on the Slovene music scene with their repertoire of jazz-standards remakes, Slovene ‘60s songs, evergreen melodies, dreamy ballads and lively Charleston tunes.
